LOVE GOD LOVE PEOPLE

WE START MEETING AT CHRISTIAN HIGH SCHOOL SUNDAY MORNING. BE THERE @ NINE. Can't wait to see you!

We talked about loving people Wednesday night. How are you doing? Is it tough to do? What are some good things you find about loving people like God calls us to? Need help?

Here is what we talked about Wednesday night.

Psalm 37:3-8
Trust in the Lord and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
[4] Delight yourself in the Lord
and he will give you the desires of your heart.

[5] Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him and he will do this:
[6] He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn,
the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.

[7] Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him;
do not fret when men succeed in their ways,
when they carry out their wicked schemes.
[8] Refrain from anger and turn from wrath;
do not fret--it leads only to evil.

2 Peter 1:3-8 NOT BEING INEFFECTIVE AND UNPRODUCTIVE
His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. [4] Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
[5] For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; [6] and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; [7] and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. [8] For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Things that need to happen so we can love people like we are called to…

1. Trust in the lord..
In order to commit our plans to the lord we must first trust Him. Does no good to ask God to help you if you don’t trust Him. Committing our plans to God is tougher than it sounds. NO DOY ACTION- commit loving people to God
2. We need to delight ourselves in the lord. Vs. 4 Illus- walking with someone as a way to get to know them.
NO DOY Action step- Spend time getting to know Him. Stop looking at our quiet time as a drag and start asking God for Wisdom and revelation so we CAN delight in HIM.
3. Pray for wisdom in how to pray and what to pray for. James 1:5 if any of you should lack wisdom he should ask God who gives generously to all without finding fault. This can be overwhelming at times. We find ourselves in times of doubting God, not feeling in Love with Him, Apathetic, Lazy…it becomes tough to DELIGHT in Him. This is when it is so important to ask for wisdom to know how to even begin praying.
NO DOY ACTION STEP- realize when you are having trouble and do something about it in stead of embracing our apathy.
4. Wait patiently for God to move. Vs. 7 still before the lord and wait patiently for Him.
NO DOY ACTION STEP- spend more time listening in prayer.
5. Add to your faith…2 peter 1:3-8- Be effective and productive.- One of the biggest helps to me in prayer is praying the scripture. Pray this passage and ask God to help you with this list. Be effective and productive in loving people.
NO DOY ACTION STEP-spend time looking for ways to love people. It’s not our job to change people…that is God’s job. Our job is to love. We love in a pure, effective, productive way after we first Love God with our Whole heart soul mind and strength.
